Education Deptt proposes re-opening of schools from Feb 21

Srinagar, Feb : The School Education Department has proposed the government to consider reopening of educational establishments from February 21st following the improvement in weather and decline in COVID-19 cases in Kashmir valley.The concerned administrative officials told Rising Kashmir that the School Education Department has proposed the State Executive Committee (SEC) to re-open the schools from February 21st.



“In order to compensate the academic losses and keeping in view the improvement in weather and dip in COVID-19 cases, we have proposed the SEC to consider the reopening of schools from February 21st,” the official said.“It is very important to compensate for the academic losses, besides a huge number of school students have administered both doses of COVID-19 vaccines,” he said.The School Education Department in the last week of November 2021announced winter vacations for all government and recognized private schools of Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu region from December 06 for elementary and December 13 for higher classes.Principal Secretary, School Education Department, B K Singh has said that the decision was taken after a meeting was held in which different schedules were discussed including the winter vacations for the Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu region.



Singh said that the government educational institutions and recognized private schools upto 8th standard were scheduled to observe the winter vacation from December 06 to 28th February2022.
