NSP Scheme 2023:-
The Government of India has introduced the National Scholarship Scheme to extend financial support to students belonging to economically disadvantaged backgrounds, who encounter obstacles in accessing education due to financial limitations. This initiative strives to foster education among such students and empower them to pursue their academic aspirations without the burden of financial constraints. The National Scholarship Scheme encompasses a range of scholarships offered at various educational levels, including pre-matric scholarships, post-matric scholarships, merit-cum-means scholarships, and scholarships specifically tailored for students with disabilities. These scholarships encompass expenses such as tuition fees, educational materials, and other related costs. Implementation of the National Scholarship Scheme is facilitated through the National Scholarship Portal.
Overall, the NSP aims to provide financial assistance to deserving students, with the scholarship amount tailored to individual circumstances, course of study, and the availability of funds within the program.
NSP Scholarship 2022-23:-
Students belonging to the Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, Sikh, Parsi, and Jain communities are considered minorities. As of now, there are more than 2.85 lakh students who are benefiting from this scholarship program. Until October 31, the state received over 3.82 lakh applications from “fresh” students seeking scholarships under this scheme. Last year, a total of 7.84 lakh students across the country were granted scholarships. This year, students were required to apply through the “Renewal” option if they had previously received a scholarship. On the National Scholarship Portal, over 7.24 lakh renewal applications were submitted. Following an extension from October 31 to November 5, the number of applications further increased. However, it is noteworthy that more than 75 percent of these applications have been rejected.
NSP Scholarship Cancelled 2023:-
Despite a substantial number of students applying for scholarships this year, there has been a specific decision by the Ministry to reject the applications of students in classes 1 to 8. In response, the Union Government has issued notices to all States and Union Territories, directing Institute Nodal Officers (INO), District Nodal Officers (DNO), and State Nodal Officers (SNO) to solely verify applications for students in classes 9 and 10. This indicates a focused approach to scholarship verification and distribution for students in higher grades, while applications from students in classes 1 to 8 are not being considered for verification at this time.
